Abortion: Don’t Attack Vulnerable Women

This is a very good comment from The Voter that illustrates that the abortion question is much more complicated than rude protesters realize:

Accosting women going into the clinic and shouting murderer a foot away from their faces isn’t peaceful protest.

The same applies to shoving posters and pictures in their faces.

I have accompanied women to the clinic and, while many protesters make their point quietly, some do not. I know that there are women who aren’t able to run that gauntlet even though they are just going to obtain a medical procedure which is legal. This includes women whose fetus has died and who are in mourning as they go into the clinic for medically necessary treatment.

If people have a problem with the legislation that makes abortion legal in certain situations, their protests should be directed towards the politicians who make those laws, not vulnerable women seeking legal medical care.
