Carleton Turns 75 With Fete

Carleton University will celebrate its 75th anniversary year with an official launch event featuring interactive exhibits, games, giveaways and a performance by former Carleton student Maestro Fresh Wes, award-winning recording artist and actor.

When: Wednesday, Jan. 18, 2017 from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Where: University Centre Galleria (fourth floor), Carleton University, Ottawa
Info: Admission is free and registration is not required.

CU75 Founding Day Celebration

The official anniversary of the founding of Carleton University on June 18, 1942 will be celebrated with a special reception.

When: Sunday, June 18, 2017
Where: Hotel Fairmont Chateau Laurier, Ottawa

CU75 Community-Academic Expo: Carleton Connects, Building and Celebrating Community Partnerships

When: Friday, Oct. 13 to Sunday, Oct. 15, 2017
Where: Friday and Sunday – Richcraft Hall, Carleton University, Ottawa; Saturday – Various community venues (to be announced)

CU75 Birchbark Canoe Project

A traditional birchbark canoe will be constructed on campus by Daniel Pinok Smith, Algonquin master canoe maker, with participation from Carleton University students. Construction will take place in the Carleton University Art Gallery; the completed canoe will be installed in the MacOdrum Library.

When: Winter to Spring 2017

  1. A shocking announcement and an even more astounding video.

    This place is the alma mater of Jim Watson and he isn’t mentionned in the text and there’s nary a shot of him in the video – it’s a scandal. Perhaps it’s because his focus is on anniversaries that celebrate spans of existence that are double that of Carleton, i.e. 150 years instead of a mere 75.

    Although there were two shots of the O-Train.

    Oh, but wait, that was Bob Chiarelli’s train project, not Watson’s.
