Cycling Closes Numerous Streets To Cars


This is a release from the National Capital Commission:

On Sunday, May 21, between 9 am and 1 pm, Confederation Boulevard, as well as other roads in the Capital Region, will be closed to motorists.

These road closures are required for a one-time event celebrating the 150th anniversary of Confederation with a special loop on Confederation Boulevard for the launch of the 47th season of NOKIA Sunday Bikedays. These one-time closures will take place in addition to regular NOKIA Sunday Bikedays parkway closures.






From 9 am to 1 pm on Sunday, May 21, 2017


·         Wellington Street (eastbound and westbound) between Vimy Place Private and Sussex Drive

·         Lyon Street (northbound lanes) between Sparks Street and Wellington Street

·         Kent Street between Albert Street and Wellington Street

·         Bank Street between Albert Street and Wellington Street

·         Metcalfe Street between Queen Street and Wellington Street

·         Elgin Street between Albert Street and Wellington Street

·         Mackenzie Avenue between Murray Street and Rideau Street

·         Sussex Drive between George Street and Rideau Street

·         Murray Street (eastbound lanes) between the Alexandra Bridge and Mackenzie Avenue.


Regular NOKIA Sunday Bikedays closures, also in effect from 9 am to 1 pm on May 21


·         Sir John A. Macdonald Parkway (westbound lanes) between Booth Street and Carling Avenue (the parking lot at Champlain Bridge is closed due to flooding)

·         Colonel By Drive (both lanes) between Daly Street and the Hog’s Back Bridge

·         Sir George-Étienne Cartier Parkway (both lanes) between Aviation Parkway and St. Joseph Boulevard in Orléans



From 9 am to 1 pm on Sunday, May 21, 2017


·         Alexandra Bridge (northbound and southbound)

·         Portage Bridge (northbound): Motor vehicles will be able to head east on Wellington Street from Portage Bridge, and continue to Lyon Street where vehicles will be directed southbound.




From 9 am to 1 pm on Sunday, May 21 2017


·         Laurier Street (eastbound and westbound) between Boulevard des Allumettières and Maisonneuve Boulevard

·         Boulevard des Allumettières (southbound) at Laurier Street
