Noted philanthropist and developer Jordan Tannis gave Ottawa South residents a Christmas gift this week.

The six-unit development he’s got going on Hopewell Avenue — remember, the one that went from 12 bedrooms to 27 bedrooms in the wink of an eye? that one? — is now going to be 16 bedrooms.

Now, of course, Tannis had all the best people working for him — FoTenn, etc. — and he certainly makes friends wherever he goes.

Tannis says his shenanigans were just fine — “”Because of the way the process and the application went through, I wasn’t required to seek any further community consultations and I wasn’t required to seek any councillor consultations, neighbourhood consultations. Once I had the approval for the envelope I was more or less allowed to go ahead.” — and that they haven’t damaged the reputation of developers in the city.

On that I can heartily agree. It’s difficult to damage something that is already beyond repair.

Interesting is such an ambiguous adjective.
