After 22 days in, we finally get a small comment from Chief Charles Bordeleau on the 11 shootings in Ottawa. That’s 11 shootings in 21 days and after 22 days we hear, not to worry we’re still living in an safe city… or are we? The gun violence has made it way into the suburbs, Bells Corners and Findlay Creek etc.
So I’m asking, am I overreacting or should the citizens of Ottawa but terrified of the gun violence in the first three weeks of 2018. I know my household is very scared of latest violence hitting our city.January 22, 2018 at 12:39 PM #743281

For fear of sounding too much like the white-wine-and-wicker liberal that I am, I think the gun violence is a symptom of a larger problem.
It’s about poverty, poor socialization, little opportunity and new Canadians coming from countries of violence and not learning that Canada doesn’t work that way.
If we have social problems, we need to deal with their roots.
Gun violence means we have failed. When problems get to the point where the police get involved, we’ve failed.
And in Ottawa, social problems are the least of city hall’s problems unless social means getting your picture on the society page in the newspaper.
