Amazon has released a short list of 20 cities of possible HQ2 sites and Ottawa is not on it.

    Are you surprised?

    Thx my friend.

I’ve put up a post on The Bulldog here concerning Ottawa’s Amazon loss.

    cheers

Given the implications of HQ2’s entry into a community, and given how our city handles development, it might not be a loss…

You know Bob, I was thinking about that as well and the idea of 50,000 extra cars on the Queensway did not appeal so much.

… but Ken, I am pretty sure that city hall was under the impression that all 50,000 of those Amazon employees would take the LRT from the front door of their residence to the front door of HQ2, and back again.

And what a good healthy walk from Moodie Drive, the Allan Hubley eastern border of Kanata, to the Kanata North Business Park.

Or maybe Amazon could have divided the CTC into cubicles.

    cheers and thx

We should call the Moodie Drive end-point of the LRT Hubley Station.

Ken, you may recall that I am a little sensitive about naming civic properties after politicians 😉

How about the Jim Watson sinkhole … I betcha you’d go for that.

Ken, I think that name should be reserved for the station at the Rideau Centre. After all, the naming process requires that the proponents demonstrate some form of relationship between the honouree and the site at issue.

That was priceless – you’ve risen above your usual high standard plus it solicited a very-out-loud laugh.

Wasn’t the proposal going to put Amazon on LeBreton Flats? Which has not one but two LRT stops.

    The Voter:

I doubt LeBreton would be able to hold all the future expansion of Amazon.

Maybe that’s why we lost the bid. Or perhaps Amazon has normal human beings working there who know a too-short LRT line when they see one.

    cheers
