Tearing apart an opponent’s arguments is just fine – tearing down signs is the act of an animal. Writing a letter to the editor is fine – trying to shut down the editor’s business is the act of an animal.
Agreeing to disagree is acceptable. Let opposing parties be civil. If one doesn’t want to be civil, then get out of politics.
Bees sting, bears defecate in the woods, and many a back room politico thrives on dirty tricks. The bees and bears can be forgiven their “trespasses”, as this is their very nature. If one doesn’t want to get stung, stay away from bees. If one doesn’t want to soil one’s boots, watch where you step in the woods.
When it comes back room politico tricksters, an honourable candidate should take heed of what my wise grandmother oft said, “You are judged by the people you associate with.” Of course, for those candidates who do not meet the honourable standard, well watch where you step, because what the bear’s leave behind stinks.
