Appears so, according to the Citizen.

Will CTV Ottawa have a sportscast next week? Who else will get the axe besides Melissa Lamb and Lianne Laing? How has JJ managed to keep the wolves at bay?

And more importantly: at what point does Bell Media stop honouring the terms of its CRTC licences?

    Bob:

What you are seeing now contributed to the two reasons for starting The Bulldog.

First, fewer media people and coverage.

Second, try to find a new economic model for journalism.

As it turned out, rather unexpectedly for me, comment became a vital part of The Bulldog. That’s especially important because locally, opinion has pretty much disappeared. We could call a forum for comment No. 3 perhaps.

Rather lofty and pretentious (maybe even arrogant) goals but The Bulldog has survived for six years and is turning a profit.

Others have tried The Bulldog model locally and failed. Don’t know yet if it is the answer. Perhaps I never will.

But the Dog appears to be becoming a local meeting place in a world where traditional touchstones are disappearing.

    cheers

Of course bell is still highly profitable as a business. They just don’t see the point in all that icky ‘journalism’ when there are press releases to be transcribed.
