Does crossing your fingers behind your back when you make a promise still negate the need to follow through? By the way, at a company I once worked for this approach was called a WAG, an acronym for a wild ass guess.
Unfortunately, it plays well to the “My mind is made up; don’t confuse me with facts” school of democratic participation. When all you’re looking for is platitudes, a candidate that doesn’t strain your brain is perfect. Those other people with platforms and costing and explanations are just trying to mess with your mind. Have some Pablum.
