Perhaps you can help me with this problem.

The Cleveland Indians stopped using Chief Wahoo as their mascot today because of MLB pressure and some fans’ concern.

Problem is: I grew up watching Cleveland Indians baseball on television with the graphic of Chief Wahoo swinging the bat and the announcer yelling: “CLEVELAND INDIANS BASEBALL” and a few fans in cavernous Cleveland Municipal Stadium.

I watched Luis Tiant, Sam McDowell, Daddy “Wags” Wagner, Rocky Colavito and Sonny Siebert play on some pretty futile teams. I remember Herb Score calling the games.

This is a part of my childhood.

But yes, Chief Wahoo is kinda racist and I’ve grown more uncomfortable with my Chief Wahoo bobblehead as time went on. It’s not right. Something has to give.

But that bobblehead has been with me for a long time.

    What do I do?

Whatever you do, please please please do not take it to city hall. We have enough bobble heads there.

My wife is a native from Vancouver Island who doesn’t understand what all the fuss is about with regards to the venerable chief. I’ll be happy to buy it from you and give it to her for her birthday. Honest. Contact me at the email address above.
