It seems as if the municipal politicians in Ottawa can’t tell the difference between a broken election promise and a flat-out lie.

To make an election promise and not follow through on it would be defined as being incompetent.

To make a personal promise (only run for 2 terms) and fail to honour it would be defined as being a liar.

    Kosmo:

It is a rather basic promise to stand for two terms.

And the alternatives are black and white.

You either stand for your two-term pledge or you do not.

    Simple as that.

Society’s standards have dropped so low that an outright lie by an elected official no longer results in condemnation, but rather a shrug. Sigh.

I tremble now with the Trump circus of lies what the new normal will be when he leaves the public scene.

Things were bad pre-Trump. Imagine what they will be like post-Trump.
