We keep hearing rumours about candidates and people being pressured to run, but so far no one has stepped up to take on Watson.

Is it too early or is the mayor just going to be acclaimed?

    The Voter

I think there are people out there considering it but not ready to make the leap just yet. The issue that concerns me is that multiple people will come forward and split the vote allowing Watson to scoot up the middle. This may be why some are holding back.
I suspect there may also be negotiations happening behind the scenes among the possible candidates to try and ensure that a strong candidate goes forward who can incorporate, without undermining their own campaign priorities, the major concerns of the other potential contenders. That would allow for a coalition to support that individual with pooled resources.
I doubt he’ll be acclaimed since there will be the usual fringe candidates who will toss their hats in the ring. Wonder what John Turmel is up to these days?

Ottawans are only going to get change if ratepayers join ratepayer groups and find a candidate.

    Up to your citizens.
