Yes councillors, most of whom receive campaign donations from developers, do represent the citizens of Ottawa.
But Harder’s quote is simplistic. Councillors more than represent developers … now they’re even better represented.
It’s difficult to imagine Harder saying this with a straight face. It is so sadly characteristic of the way things work on Laurier Avenue. It’s not about what really happens but making political points when speaking and doing what is best for councillors.
At least developers are getting good value for money spent.
