Highway 174 Closed Indefinitely


This is a release from the City of Ottawa:

Highway 174 is closed in both directions between Trim Road and Cameron Street due to soil erosion along the roadway. Motorists are advised to follow the detour signs. The road will be closed until further notice.


Please note: Highway 174 reopened on Tuesday.

  1. No “emergency” here!!

    I am so disgusted with regards to how all of this has been managed. A little fore-thought would have been great, much could have been diverted or diminished.

    For many, they will have great difficulty getting to work, or getting there on time…in many cases, that will mean docked pay or firing.

  2. I share the disgust. Do we not have an emergency preparedness plan ready to be implemented? If so, who makes the call?

  3. What happens to the people who live along the 174, particularly those north of the highway, who have no other way to get to their homes? It sure is a good thing there’s no “emergency” going on around here.
