How Many More Communities Can Watson Alienate?

Mayor Jim Watson is running again so he has about 18 months to screw up before the next election.

Watson is working hard to do just that.

So far the storm water tax has angered rural residents (not a great source of Watson support anyway), his bungling of the response to the Abdi case has caused deep concerns in the multicultural community and your agent was especially surprised at the extent of the heckling of Watson by the francophone community at the S.O.S. Montfort anniversary celebration over the lack of official bilingualism in the municipal government.

So many months. So many more people to alienate.

Maybe the change thing is starting to happen.

  1. I’m not really sure if the ‘multicultural’ community is one cohesive group and I imagine that the downturn in support that the mayor had would decline in the Somali/Muslim community and not other communities comprised of those who are not ‘Canadian’ born and bred … whatever that means these days.

    1. Mr. Chadwick:

You’re probably right. Different communities often feel different on different issues.

Perhaps ‘visible minorities’ would have been a better term though not completely correct either.

      cheers

  2. While I would like to believe alienation will continue, those in power still have the means to dish out new programs/goodies to voters .
