Bulldog Kanata correspondent Anne Marie O’Dale sent along a note saying that teacher and prominent Kanata resident Matt Muirhead is making another run at a city-council seat.
He lost in Kanata North in 2014.
Muirhead is the father of three and has been active in local affairs for many years.
Kanata North will be a very tough and interesting race. David Gourlay, the former head of the Ottawa Champions baseball team and a friend of Mayor Jim Watson, is running in Kanata North. As well, Jenna Suds is also throwing her hat into the ring. She is the former president of the Kanata North Business Association.
Muirhead lost to Marianne Wilkinson in 2014. However Wilkinson will retire from municipal politics after the Oct. 22 election.
Muirhead asked The Bulldog to hold off on publishing his candidacy until Thursday because of a promise he made to a community newspaper. Sorry Matt, but that’s not what we do here at The Bulldog. Our job is to publish news when we get it, not hold on to it.
If we discover news, we publish it unless there are very good reasons not to.
