Most Canadians Want Gaza Ceasefire: POLL

This is a poll from the non-profit Angus Reid Institute:

U.S. President Joe Biden made his strongest statement against the Israeli military action in Gaza to date last week when he called for an end to hostilities. His proposal for a ceasefire was quickly supported by Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau. In stating that it is “time for this war to end”, Biden evidently reflects the views of many Canadians and Americans.

New data in a cross-border study from the non-profit Angus Reid Institute finds two-in-five in each of Canada and the United States supporting a full, immediate ceasefire, with another one-in-five saying that a temporary ceasefire is needed. A smaller number – approximately one-in-five in both countries – disagrees that any ceasefire should be called, while many in each country have no firm views.

With pressure building internationally on Israel to end its military offensive in Gaza, sympathy for the Palestinians is evidently growing. Compared to November, both Canadians and Americans are more likely now to say they sympathize primarily with the Palestinian. Canadians are divided nearly evenly, with 25 per cent saying they sympathize most with Israel, 27 per cent equally on both sides, and 28 per cent with the Palestinians (an increase of 10 points). In the U.S., 31 per cent say they feel more sympathy for Israelis, 27 per cent both sides, and 19 per cent the Palestinians (an increase of six points).

A growing sense that Israel’s response has been “heavy handed” may be driving views of the conflict overall. Asked about this, U.S. opinion among respondents has flipped from plurality disagreement to plurality agreement since November. In Canada, an eight-point increase in agreement has pushed this view into a majority (53 per cent agree).

More Key Findings:

•    Trump and Biden supporters disagree whether Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Minister of Defence Yoav Gallant should be charged with war crimes. Two-thirds of Biden supporters (65%) say yes, compared to just 29 per cent of would-be Trump voters. On the same question with respect to Hamas’ leadership, the vast majority agree.

•    Half of Canadian Jews in this survey support a ceasefire, whether permanent (28%) or temporary (22%). Two-in-five (42%) say this should not take place.

•    Current Canadian Conservative Party supporters largely disagree that Israel’s response has been too aggressive (54%). Those who say they would support the Liberals or New Democrats are overwhelmingly likely to say that it has been (68% and 77% agree, respectively).

Devil is in the details . What are the terms of the ceasefire?

When the terrorists attacked the U.S. and the states fought back, no one said stop due to casualties
Hitler attacked Europe and when Europe fought back, no one said stop due to casualties
When Ukrane was attacked by Russia, and the Ukrane is fighting back, no one is telling Ukrane to stop due to casualties.
BUT ISRAEL IS ATTACKED , AND PEOPLE ARE RAPED, SLAUGHTERED, BURNED, KIDNAPPED AND ARE STILL BEING HELD……AND ISRAEL IS TOLD TO STOP DUE CASUALTIES.

UNBELIEVEABLE……THEY WILL CEASEFIRE……AND THIS WHOLE MESS WILL START AGAIN.
WHY ARE THE JEWS NOT ALLOWED TO DEFEND THEMSELVES.
