This is a release from the National Capital Commission:

As of tomorrow morning at 8 am, Saturday, February 17, the full 7.8 kilometres of the Rideau Canal Skateway, from downtown (Rideau) to the Hartwells Locks, will be open to skaters and visitors.

The National Capital Commission (NCC) Ice Safety Committee has deemed that the Rideau Canal Skateway is safe for skating.

Managed by the NCC since the 1970–1971 season, the 7.8-kilometre Rideau Canal Skateway receives, on average, close to one million visits every year; 20,000 visits each day that it is open.

The 48th Rideau Canal Skateway season started 43 days ago and has so far provided us with 32 beautiful skating days.
