Rideau Skateway To Reopen

This is a release from the National Capital Commission:

At 8 am tomorrow morning, Thursday, February 2, 2017, the National Capital Commission (NCC) will reopen the full 7.8 kilometre of the Rideau Canal Skateway to skaters, from downtown to the Hartwells Locks.

The NCC Ice Safety Committee has deemed that the Rideau Canal Skateway is safe for skating.

Managed by the NCC since the 1970–1971 season, the 7.8-kilometre Rideau Canal Skateway receives, on average, close to one million visits every year; 20,000 visits each day that it is open.

The 47th season of the Rideau Canal Skateway was officially launched on Saturday, January 14th 2017, when the 4.4-kilometre section between the Laurier Avenue Bridge and the Bronson Avenue Bridge opened.
