Trump: The Tin-Pot Dictator

For people who are as appalled as your agent is over the firing of FBI director James Comey, the very man who is investigating the Trump campaign’s ties to Russia, the Washington Post has written a wonderful article on the implications of the U.S. president’s anti-democratic move. It is an affront to the rule of law in a country to which the world looks for its defence and an example of good governance.

Trump’s move is that of a tin-pot dictator and makes one wonder to what depths American democracy has plunged.

Here is a segment of the Post piece:

In one of the hastily arranged damage-control interviews, deputy White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders made an especially revealing statement that underscored why so many people are worried. Asked by Tucker Carlson on Fox News how Comey’s termination will impact the Russia investigation, she replied: “I think the bigger point on that is, ‘My gosh, Tucker, when are they gonna let that go?’ It’s been going on for nearly a year. Frankly, it’s kinda getting absurd. There’s nothing there.”

“It’s time to move on,” she added. “Frankly, it’s time to focus on the things the American people care about.”

When does Trump begin to censor the press?

In addition, the National Post’s Andrew Coyne has written a very good column on why Trump cannot be allowed to continue in office. To read it, click here.

  1. On the subject of a 50-year plan, I certainly did not plan that I’d be reading about North Korea in the current context. I did not plan to be reading about missile strikes and bombings all these many years since Vietnam. I most certainly did not plan on hearing about the president of the United States being ridiculed.

  2. The issue is far more complicated than Bulldog says. Poor governance has led to the emergence of Trump. In other countries there might be a civil war. In the US it becomes what we see.
Really think that Bulldog should stick to his own turf: Ottawa and environs. We can leave US politics to the those on the other side of the border. We have enough nonsense going on here. By the way did anybody catch the breathless Justin Trudeau going on and on inanely about how wonderfully generous and cooperative Canadians are?

    1. Sorry Robert but I reserve my right to speak on what I wish.

Let’s hope Trump doesn’t put curbs on the media so that Americans can do the same.
