This is a release from Ottawa Tourism:
Ottawa Tourism, in partnership with a group of talented Ottawa locals, has launched a series of videos aiming to ignite a spark among Ottawans and to incite interest among millennials.
The campaign, Ottawa’s Own, features a group of talented Ottawa-based makers, artists, and entrepreneurs who highlight beautifully their contribution to the city and some of the city’s most enthralling features. An intimate evening premiere of the video series took place at the Mayfair Theatre last night to launch the Ottawa’s Own campaign.
A teaser video revealing the group of Ottawans and introducing a snippet of their stories and the six profile videos will be promoted weekly until March 27, 2018.
Over the course of the next six weeks, videos released on the Ottawa’s Own website will be shared and promoted on Ottawa Tourism’s social media channels including Facebook, YouTube, Instagram, and Twitter. The series features six inspiring Ottawans who open up on camera about their passions and what Ottawa means to them. Introduced in the videos: an adventurous whitewater kayaker, the owner of an ice cream shop with a unique take on flavours, a maker of cool coffee-inspired apparel, two creative coffee roasters, an avid skateboarder upcycling old skateboards into paddles, and a painter beautifying Ottawa’s buildings and alleyways with grand murals.
“I speak for the entire Ottawa Tourism team when I say how excited we are to showcase this group of true locals, energized about building our community and eager to show off Ottawa through their own eyes,” says Michael Crockatt, Ottawa Tourism’s President and CEO. “Our city is full of passionate creators, makers, entrepreneurs, and artists who are not only dedicated to making our city a better place, but who also get inspired by Ottawa to make things happen. We know that their stories will resonate with viewers and encourage them to come to our city and find out what Ottawa is all about.”
Ottawa Tourism intends to keep the Ottawa’s Own movement going and welcomes nominations of other inspiring locals to share their own stories of Ottawa and get people talking about Canada’s capital. A nomination page can be found on the Ottawa’s Own website.
