Watson 2018 Keeps On Keeping On

He’s still doing it.

The Ottawa 2017 campaign looks a lot like a 2018 municipal election campaign for Mayor Jim Watson.

Why can’t the releases say “City of Ottawa” rather than “Mayor Jim Watson”?

Stupid question … we know why that is.

Here is the top of the latest Ottawa 2018 release:

The Ottawa 2017 Bureau and Mayor Jim Watson, in collaboration with lead partner CIBC, are pleased to announce two new Agri 150 experiences. Tickets for the Back to the Future: Farm Technology Tour and the Secret Eats West Carleton-March Tour will go on sale at 10 a.m. on Friday, May 26, 2017.

Watson is getting higher billing in this release than CIBC, the celebration’s prime sponsor.

  1. There is still some time left before the next municipal elections. I figure that by then each, every and all communication out of city hall will start off with – Mayor Jim………

    Mayor Jim wishes to announce:
    – I held a great tea and cakes meet and greet, I want to thank everyone that came out to meet me.
    – I drove the first train on my new LRT line and I feel wonderful that I was able to get this project completed.
    – I am again running for mayor of my city and I am asking you to come out and vote for me because I am good enough, I am smart enough and gosh darn it I like me.

P.S. I guess I need to clean the old crystal ball but darn, 2nd period of overtime, game 7, the Sens got my blood pumping. That was exciting hockey.

  2. Ken,
Again, thank you for the song from the Moderaires. I am always ” in the mood ” to hear a “moonlight serenade”. In the old days I would pick up a “little brown jug” to help me get through periods when “fools rush in” “over there”. Too often a line from ” Perfidia” comes to mind – – “With a sad lament my dreams are faded like a broken melody.”

Here is another line from another song.

There was a time “long ago and far away” when there was a popular song that had a line that could be changed slightly. To his lairdship I give a slogan for his 2018 campaign –
“Just one look and then I knew, all I longed for long ago was me.”
