  1. The last thing Council should be doing is giving Watson free rein to conduct off-the-record, confidential negotiations with anybody and particularly not about LeBreton.
    a) we don’t need another Lansdowne – he’s talking about affordable housing and transit but his record at Lansdowne says otherwise;
    b) let’s not inflict Watson on Eugene Melnyk and the Sens operation – we know he has no interest in supporting/promoting them and has proven in the past he can’t play in that sandbox;
    c) he’s wangled himself a seat on the NCC Board – let him do his negotiating there;
    d) there’s no need for a politician to be part of these negotiations – that’s why we have a city manager – leave it to Kanellakos to get it done. If Council wants to set some parameters for Kanellakos to negotiate, that’s fine but Watson’s nose along with the rest of him needs to stay out of it;
    e) let’s recognize that this is just another resume-building exercise for the 2018 election brochures;
    f) for a thousand other reasons, no – just no.
