Hey, How About That Root Derailment Cause

The top mandarins at OC Transpo are preparing to announce the starting date of the Trillium Line and the line to the airport.

Only two years late but it’s a cause for celebration if you ignore the 24 months of ineptitude.

And on that subject, why have we not yet heard of the root cause of our system’s derailments and it’s liberal use of axles? After garbage service since 2019, doesn’t the public that’s footing the cost of this $6.4-billion pale placoderm deserve to know why this failed project plopped.

Or perhaps our arrogant betters at Ottawa City Hall (who have no reason to be arrogant … rather humble at this train monstrosity … think it is better that we peasants not know? Or is the reason expensive and embarrassing and incompetent?

It’s one of two things: Transpo doesn’t know or doesn’t want us to know.

If Transpo doesn’t know, that’s blisteringly stupid. And if it does know and won’t tell, well, that’s blisteringly stupid, too. No upside to this one, trainers.

Choose your poison … don’t know or won’t tell.

City hall should be able to do better than this … but it doesn’t in so many ways.

Engineers are generally pretty competent individuals who can analyze problems effectively. Politicians on the other hand . . . . . I think it’s pretty easy to guess the answer to the question you pose.
