  1. Ron Benn says:

    Passion trumps policy, every time.

If governments truly want to make headway in addressing (because there is no solving – seriously folks there is an endless number of people who are facing the multitude of problems that lead to homelessness) the issues of homelessness, fund the faith-based and community-based organizations and then step back. No strings attached. Just provide regular operating reports.

The biggest accomplishment across all three levels biggest accomplishment to date is to re-arrange some words. The people we often refer to as ‘the homeless’ has been replaced with ‘people without homes’. So many people have spent so much time and resources to accomplish so very, very little.

Which circles back to Mike’s central point. Faith-based and community-based organizations focus on results, and get them. Governments? Results are not their mandate.
