Noise Makes Sprung Structures Miserable: BENN
Further to the noise issue in sprung structures, a little more than three years ago, a family member had the misfortune of a five-day stay in the trauma centre on the civic hospital campus.
This is the prototype that the city uses as to what we can expect to see from the outside.
When it came to the noise levels, it was the constant sound of buses and heavy trucks trundling along the adjacent Carling Avenue that kept him awake, notwithstanding the narcotic pain killers he was being given.
The proposed Welcome Centre for asylum seekers, refugees and whoever-else-will-eventually-land-up there is adjacent to West Hunt Club Road, between two sets of traffic lights. Perhaps that constant background noise will help deaden the cacophony of sounds from within the structure.
Ron Benn, a finance executive, has been a member of the Centrepointe Community Association for the better part of three decades.
