Canadians Are In This Together: COLLENETTE
Some valuable words from one of our most able and best Ottawans Penny Collenette:
The sun shines this morning in Ottawa in spite of the heaviness in our hearts. None of it should have been a surprise but the Trump announcements and the Musk actions were appalling. I cannot begin to imagine the fear of an undocumented worker in the U.S. today. We need to 1/2

However, Trump has only one and only two years to the midterms. Let’s hope the Democrats will get their act together as quickly as possible. In the meantime, Canadians must negotiate well, pick our spots , stay calm and carry on. We are in this together and it not forever. 3/3

Ms. Collenette is correct. DumbOld Trumpf will have only 2 years to rule the roost before the American mid-terms. The Democrats need to act soon in order to prevent themselves from, yet again, seizing defeat from the jaws of victory. But I do have a concern here now that ballot counting has become an electronic process. In case you haven’t noticed, Trumpf has surrounded himself with most of the top high tech wizards in the world. Who knows, maybe they’ll be able to undermine the voting process and keep the Republicans in power for decades to come. And Donald Trumpf’s right-handed “half-heil” with his tiny clenched fist is no less offensive than Elon Musk’s full-blown “heil Trumpf” salute.
Great to see Penny’s words of calm. As an old family friend used to say “This too will pass.” and we need to hang on and get through it with the hope of emerging into the sunlight sooner rather than later. I too am hoping for a good outcome at the midterms. By then, Trump may even have calmed down a bit and/or just tired of running the country and gone back to playing golf five or six days a week.
