Suggest you join LRT Wrecks on Facebook for daily horror stories about OC Transpo. The worst has to be buses that pass you by as the driver has to make his timings and will get in less trouble if he just passes you by than if he is late. Ghost buses are magical, they are buses on your GPS and they get closer and closer and then pass you by without you ever seeing them – its a miracle!
One very simple solution is “increase ridership”. Additional weight inside the vehicles will help them gain traction outside. And, all-season radials? DUH!
OC Transpo doesn’t ‘believe’ in snow tires? Seriously? What on earth could lead them to that idea working in Ottawa? Or haven’t they heard that snow and ice on the roads are a part of winter life here? Not sure what planet they’re on but it’s time to get real!
I am remembering, of course, that the number of buses they had on the road was already drastically reduced from what the normal weekday service would have been. And that reduction was attributed to the effects of driving them in the snow – which somehow makes sense to the brain trust operating the transit company!
