Do Your Job, Councillors: PATTON
East-end councillors should concentrate on economic development should stick to local business, not the social media network X, Bulldog commentator Mike Patton says:
Mike Patton is the former communications director for Mayor Larry O’Brien and the president of the Ottawa West-Nepean PC Association.

Mike. If she/he doesn’t concern her/himself with social media her/his Facebook page will fall into disrepair and there will be nowhere for her (Dudas) or him (Luloff) to display the photo ops their staff has carefully coordinated.
X (formerly Twitter) is one of many channels the city uses to communicate its “well curated” version of what passes for news to those who have nothing better to do with their time.
Demanding that the city withdraw from X is just another virtue signal from a council whose main, dare I say only, strength is in sending virtue signals.
Well said, Ron. k
Putting aside any job performance reviews of our councillors, I agree that all levels of government should take a good, hard look at how they put out information.
X and Facebook are walled gardens to those of us that saw the algorithmic-bullshit-writing-on-the-wall, and got out. There are open-source alternatives that anyone can access, and there are people in Ottawa that would be happy to help City Hall set something up.
The public voice shouldn’t be in the hands of private enterprise, especially foreign private enterprise that has already shown it can’t be relied on to deliver unfiltered news.
