The Pete Seeger City Council

I hear Pete Seeger:

“When will they ever learn? When will they ever learn?”

This council seems to rejoice in re-creating last week’s and last month’s and last year’s chaos over and over again.

I suspect though that they will tell you that lack of consultation or any kind of public process had little or nothing to do with the cancellation of the sprung structure fiasco. They will repeat the official line which says it was scuttled because of a shortage of refugees and asylum seekers to stuff into the tents. Heaven forbid that they should take any kind of responsibility for the whole mess.

As the rest of us know, one of the best ways to avoid making the same mistakes over and over again is to learn the lessons offered by those mistakes when they happen. Could it be that councillors think that if learning from a mistake is a good thing, then it must be that much better if you can make the same mistake several times so your learning can be deeper?

There has to be something going on in their heads to justify going back to repeat the disasters they’ve already been through. Although maybe not …
