Rats. Ottawa Has Rats – Lots Of Them
The City of Ottawa, in its long-running saga of rat protection, continues to study the question.
Perhaps the Rat Working Group could consider the issue of rats due to biweekly garbage pickup or faulty green bins. Ottawa Public Health many years ago was concerned about the way the city was dealing with refuse for fear of vermin.
Guess what? Now we have a vermin outbreak. City hall plays to form.
Once again, we have a situation where city council knew better than the public and the experts. We’re lucky to have these learned councillors.

I’ve been actively engaging with the City’s Rat Working Group to better understand the situation and explore effective solutions.

Many of you have raised concerns about increased rat activity in our community, and I want to assure you that I’m working hard to address this. The City is taking steps, and together, we’re focused on finding best ways to tackle the issue.
For more information on how to identify rat activity, prevent infestations, and ongoing efforts to manage the situation, please visit my website for latest updates.

Rats have lived in cities since, well, probably since cities began to form. They move to a locale in which food is plentiful and don’t require 4-star restaurants to meet their nutritional requirements. They live in London, Paris, Toronto, Montreal, Moscow, New Delhi, in fact they live in all cities. If Ottawa can come up with a solution to rid the world of rats the first thing city council should do is obtain a patent for the solution. The money to be made will make fElon Musk the second richest entity in the world. And, the city of Ottawa will be able to continue its hair-brained, ill-fated projects at no cost to taxpayers.
Ottawa always had rats but they began to flourish when garbage dropped to bi-weekly pickup.
Most of our neighbours do their level best to maintain their property’s cleanliness but sometimes it’s a lost cause especially once the warm weather arrives. Last year one counted seven in his garage.
Unfortunately, our fair city ramps up excuses rather than possible solutions .. like, oh I don’t know, maybe go back to weekly garbage pickup.
Rats run in Packs, a good start wound be to start killing them. One pack at a time.
Oh! You were referring to the four-legged variety?
We do normally have an excessive amount of the other kind but they’ve been off getting a new ticket to our fair city again. They will soon start to pour in from all corners of the country so it’s prudent to begin preparations for their arrival.
