Name Names In Traffic Camera Scandal: THE VOTER

Where in that commentary did College Councillor Laine Johnson say that the traffic camera money which was improperly allocated will be redirected to the intended destination?

It’s all very well to say that things were done that shouldn’t have been done but if no attempt is made to correct it, those are crocodile tears she’s shedding.

We also need to know who within staff made the decision(s) to ignore, as we now know, not one but two Ottawa City Council directives. It’s time to name names and have visible consequences for this insubordination. If none of the staff responsible has to face the music, it sends a clear message that you can treat council instructions as merely suggestions, not mandatory orders.

This kind of incident draws more attention to the question of who, if anyone, is actually in charge at Ottawa City Hall. Is it staff, council or nobody?

  1. waba WHAT? says:

City staff have a habit of using “whatsapp” or similar messaging app. The only way of finding the perpetrators of this “fraud and waste” action is for the AG to interview staff. Lansdowne 2.0 should be next as these files are full of abuse and an indicator of systemic problems. Then the overhaul of city managers is needed based on results of investigations.
