King To Decide Fate Of Former Councillor
This treasonous talk comes from the lips of former Bay councillor Alex Cullen.
You might think about getting out of town for a few days:
This from Bluesky:
Can we not establish a made-in-Canada Canadian head of state, instead of relying on a British import? Surely it’s time! #cdnpoli

There was a time commoner Cullen when your fate with such pronouncements would be decided by the Royal Executioner.
I will check with the Royal party to see what ugly conclusion to your life awaits you.
Until then, have a good day.

May I remind you of the quote from Wat’s rebellion: “When Adam delved and Eve span, who was then the gentleman?”.
Alex, while I am not a fan of the concept of a monarchy (or any other ruler class determined by blood line), I see only grief in any attempt to make changes to Canada’s Head of State, as it would require a change to the constitution.
Constitutional change in Canada is a bottomless quagmire. It is not as simple as getting approval based on the embedded formula of 7 provinces with 50% of the population. The process would get bogged down by every self-interest group that believes that they are more equal than everyone else. It would take at least a decade for the first round of whining and whinging to be heard. The rebuttals and re-rebuttals would add another decade. With no end in sight. All for what? For a symbolic change to a symbol.
Whenever I see a headline involving a member of the royal family (I can’t be bothered to read more than the headline), I recall what a one-time colleague of mine pointed out. The royal family is to England what Mickie and Minnie are to Disney – just part of the tourism industry.
