Seniors: Living On The Street? PATTON
We all get old. The big question is how we spend our senior years. Could seniors end up living on the street?
Many do now:
Mike Patton is the former communications director for Mayor Larry O’Brien and the president of the Ottawa West-Nepean PC Association.

For those (moi) who have worked on the streets at night specifically with men, seniors in this position is not new. I saw it happening over 25 years ago. Y’all forgot about those who built this country using derogatory slurs like “boomers” and the “greatest generation” while rolling your eyes. You took care of others (take your pick) before your ancestors. It would be interesting to know if Mr. Benn or Mr Gray have spent more than one night on the streets helping. By the way donating is great but if you haven’t been on the streets you know nada!
Many years ago my wife and I watched a movie called “The Terminator”. At the end of the show we looked at each other and said “Wow, this could really happen!” And look where we’re heading with AI right now. Mike’s comments are frightening and a prelude to the not-too-distant future. Unfortunately, things are only going to get worse.
Anderson, I do not understand why you are concerned about why you are singling out me as to whether I have spent more than one night on the street helping those who lack permanent housing. The short answer to that question is no, I have not.
Have I posted any comments/written columns that you have interpreted as being derogatory of “boomers” (I am one) or the “greatest generation” (my parents’ generation)? I don’t recall any.
