Rats … Where Did The Rodents Go? BENN
Rats, like pretty much every other form of life, are in a constant state of searching for food.
They accumulate where the food is. Places like dumpsters beside restaurants and fast food emporiums (there is a difference). That they prowl around the nearby properties is just part of the territorial nature of the beast.
Clean up the dumpster site and the rats move elsewhere. Perhaps the reduced number of complaints is because the local property managers have improved their waste removal processes. In addition to increasing the frequency of collection, regularly power spraying the ground around the dumpster to reduce the odors that attract the rats.
Was this in response to city bylaw enforcement? Did the city’s rat birth control efforts work that quickly? We are unlikely to know for sure.

How long before the rats hop out of the sewers and we have a visible problem once again. My guess is as soon as the weather warms up.
