Letterman Speaks Truth To Colbert Issue

The man who started The Late Show, David Letterman, addresses the cancellation of the franchise and its implications for host Stephen Colbert, who will be looking for work soon, and on freedom of speech.

Your agent has been a huge Letterman fan (note today’s top 10 list on under-fire Councillor Tim Tierney) and recommends the video below highly.

That said, your agent, as an editor, would not have allowed Colbert’s “bribe” comment about his employer through. He could have called it something else. You must be able to prove such an allegation, not just surmise it or just say it. It’s actionable as hell. And unfair.

I will miss Colbert’s show a great deal but he went too far, something that really hasn’t been discussed in the media. It’s just CBS is such a bad guy.

The video is entertaining, informative and intelligent. You can’t ask for much more. Letterman pretty much calls the issue right on:

You forgot he was losing 40 million dollars a year on a 200 million dollar budget. He was #1 in his time slot but many other late night hosts in different slots were out pacing him. I haven’t watched late night since Carson left. I had no idea what his political affiliation was because it wasn’t required. The current crop of woke procrastinators are all lower rated than the Fox late night host who has a Democrat as one of his co-hosts. He (Gutfield) is gay which I didn’t think was possible on a right of the divide organization. I have been told by those on the left that all Conservatives are homophobes, bigoted, xenophobic and racists. He was preaching to your choir, my new and opinions are best served by independent news sources like yours but no just your. I take into account your inherent bias and go from there, sometimes I agree, sometimes not. If I didn’t I wouldn’t have stuck around and donated to your page when you ask for donations. Cheers!

Over the next 3 1/2 years we can expect tension to mount south of the border as the spoiled brat from Queens with the orange complexion, thin skin, and tiny hands starts moving out all the daily truth tellers, the funny ones like Stephen Colbert, Jimmy Kimmel, Seth Meyers, Jon Stewart (a personal favourite), as well as everyone from MSNBC including Lawrence O’Donnell (another favourite), Nicole Wallace, Jan Psaki, Rachel Maddow, and on and on. I am optimistic that free speech will prevail, and the movies and books that result from the current US administration will scare any future president from seeking assistance from Darth Vader and the Dark Side in addition to The Village People. ‘Nuff said.
