It has been taken as a given that Lansdowne 2.0 would be approved by Ottawa City Council.

That’s not the case now, Bulldog commentator Mike Patton says.

Could Lansdowne 2.0 fail?

  1. waba WHAT? says:

I repair my house, constantly. I get competitive bids and investigate for options. I never have torn a house down. It always pays to do maintenance.

In this Lansdowne situation we put the “tenant” (OSEG) in charge of maintenance, and did not verify OSEG claims it was in such poor shape it had to be torn down! Then the city accepts the OSEG bid to rebuild it as a “partner” without any other repair options investigated. To top it off ALL the expected cost overruns (estimated to be 40% to over 100%) will be the city’s responsibility! (tax increased for all)

As a taxpayer I am incensed at the illogical yes votes to get us along to this point, and the final vote perhaps in the next 90 days.

If the same money were distributed, suburban and rural wards would get about $30 million for each of their wards, instead they will pay for the condos and get up to 40% smaller sports venues and lose parkland greenspace. UGH!
