Stop Worrying About Time Change

Is this all you’ve got?

Each year a politician or two, desperate for publicity, breaks out the end of seasonal clock changes as a big issue.

Forget about it.

Not to be left out of the PR-fest is Orleans MP Marie-France Lalonde who is championing the fight against changing your clock.

So we are in the process of building major developments for Canada, beefing up the military and fighting the tariff decline of some of our most important industries and what’s Lalonde got? Time change. Another waste of time.

Look, like it or not, we change our clocks twice a year because the United States does it and Canada, still, does most of its international business with the U.S. Not changing the clock loses hours of business across the border. And maybe, just maybe, that could contribute to a small decline in the economy over time.

In a period of economic dislocation, the last thing we need is tinkering with the time clock to add another obstacle to business.

Don’t change the way we change the clocks.
