The O-Train Is A Lemon: GRAY

The time has come for an adult conversation about the O-Train.

Here’s a good starting point. Line 1 doesn’t work. It’s a lemon. It gets temporary patches and enormous amounts of preventative maintenance which is expensive and time-consuming. The train has had two major bearing problems, one of which at present is preventing full service.

On top of all of this, a probable permanent fix for the bearing problems (when the O-Train only had one major bearing problem instead of two) is about three years away.

The O-Train opened in 2019 and immediately had major technical difficulties including two derailments. It has had major delays and outages. Who will forget the spectre of commuters seven years ago walking from Tunney’s Pasture station to downtown when the train failed?
