City, OSEG Blew It On Charge: QUOTABLE

“… despite the city’s large financial outlay, the end product couldn’t accommodate the city’s hottest sports team, the Charge, raises questions about judgment.”

Citizen columnist Mohammed Adam

Adam, always the gentleman, is very polite in his criticism unlike some of the words you see on The Bulldog.

The city’s and Ottawa Sports and Entertainment Group’s treatment of the Charge, Ottawa’s PWHL club and twice almost champion, is unconscionable. They treated the Charge like an after-thought … if they thought about the women’s hockey team at all.

Short of the NHL Senators and possibly the CFL Redblacks, the Charge have taken the town … particularly young women … by storm, passionate about what has traditionally been a men’s sport. The Charge are part of the worldwide explosion in women’s professional sports, particularly basketball and soccer but now even hockey. It’s wonderful to see.
