Rare Few Canadians Spotted In Florida
That friend (see previous post) who was driving to Florida ended up seeing only four Canadian licence plates between Ottawa and Daytona Beach.
Only a few Canadian plates were spotted around Daytona.
“Never seen anything like it.”
Maybe this boycott the U.S. movement in Canada following U.S. President Donald Trump’s tariff threats and insults is beginning to take hold.
At least a few Americans, who were once Canada’s best friends, might get a feel for the level of animosity simmering here.

I would expect that it won’t be until next winter that the real effect will be seen in Florida and other snowbird destinations in the US. Many people had already headed for their winter quarters before the November election even took place. Others were already locked into arrangements for the season (accommodations, flights, etc.) that they couldn’t change so have gone down for what they anticipate will be the final time. Some who have difficulty with Canadian winters for health reasons will need to arrange an alternative getaway and that could take time.
At least two couples I know have gone down later than usual with the intention of closing up their Florida homes and selling them before heading back here as soon as possible. Another couple already had their family booked to come down for March Break and so decided to have that last family get-together before closing their Georgia home for good.

Try driving a little farther south to Hollywood and area, those “Canadians” (cough cough) have been there since the end of October if not before. One also has to factor in the Canadian dollar, a number of Canadians I know decided not to come down pre-election because of that.
