The recent flurry of comments posted on Bulldog criticizing the city’s public consultations made me think again about my most disliked city program – Community Improvement Plans.

On March 29, The Bulldog sent a message to City of Ottawa media relations concerning the amount of money being spent on claims concerning the light-rail project.
Often public consultations provide insights that staff might not have taken into account when developing their proposed solution, because staff are not as familiar with the neighbourhood as the residents.
Clearly Somerset Councillor Ariel Troster doesn’t understand the basic concepts of democracy including the idea of checks and balances.
