Charles’ Visit: Americans Just Don’t Get It
CNN starts its 10-minute segment on the visit of King Charles to Canada with a grade-school mistake.
Canada is one of the last places left in the “British Empire,” a CNN anchor says. Ouch. The empire died a long time ago when the Dominions took the first steps toward a Commonwealth post-Second World War.
CNN did get that Charles is a message to U.S. President Donald Trump but the rest of the coverage is just top of the waves. You would have thought someone on the panel discussing the news would have corrected the mistake but the ‘experts’ either couldn’t be bothered or didn’t know this basic fact.
The mistake is like inviting someone over for dinner who spills their red wine on the white sofa. Bad move.
Here is the rest of the grade-school level of discussion on the supposedly factual and respected CNN.
It’s good Charles spoke slowly in the Throne Speech so the Americans could get it … you know foreign English (not American) you know:

Ken. I watched the video and we should give the panelists credit. They are trying to placate us in a typically America-towards-Canada friendly and condescending way.
Sisco:
You’re right. The Americans forgot to mention that Canadians all live in igloos and drive dogsleds.
The British Empire? Come on.

Yes, you’d think they’d be smart enough to know the British gov’t. marketing department felt that British Empire was deemed politically correct and changed the moniker to “British Commonwealth” so we could all feel there would be some financial benefit to us.
