Council Lacks Courage To Ditch Nightlife Commish: BENN
City staff recently noted that it is $1.3 million behind budget on the items that they can influence leaving the $36 million budget fiction for council to talk about.
Putting the nightlife commissioner and his retinue to the curb would put about a 20-per-cent dent in that problem.
However, that is unlikely to occur. It would mean that the same council that thought that hiring someone find fresh ideas, such as a new website, was a bright idea. It would mean acknowledging the error of their ways. That is just not going to happen, because that would take courage.
And courage is in short supply around the council chamber.
Ron Benn, a finance executive, has been a member of the Centrepointe Community Association for the better part of three decades.

Perhaps if council found an ounce of courage they would relieve Monsieur Godin of his responsibilities but leave in place the ad-hoc community member committee. This committee could be supported by the councillor for the area, Stephanie Plante, who would then report to council.
Consider the valuable thoughts, ideas, suggestions that could be brought forward for change…
Ms. Plante would do well to involve herself more in the rebirth of the ByWard Market.
Ron. Maybe Mighty Mouse will step up and run for council in one of the wards next year . . . . . “Here I come to save the day”.
