    Yep. If you don’t feel you’re being paid enough for what you do, just don’t have your name included on next year’s ballot. By the way, who amongst us gets to vote yay or nay to how much of a wage or salary increase we should receive. This is usually, no, is always, the job of a third party.

    I can think of only two who sometimes appear to be part timing it. Both are likely doing stuff less transparently than others. I don’t agree with how effectively some prepare for committee or council meetings. Yet it is just not true the majority are part timing the job.

    I’m with Miranda on this one. I remember stories of Alex Cullen reading reports into the wee hours of the morning. He may have been an outlier, but I don’t see how it’s part time with all the stuff that they’re supposed to be informed of.

    Nicholas, you’ve hit on an import point. Councilors shouldn’t have to peruse documents that are hundreds of pages long when a Table of Contents together with an Executive Summary should help them identify what’s relevant to them in short order.
