Deficit: Councillors Should Show Leadership: BENN

The city has reported a $14-million deficit in its first quarter. The media reports do not mention how this relates to the $36-million hole in the budget. For the purposes of this comment, it really doesn’t matter.

Discretionary spending is the starting point for addressing how to make up for this financial shortfall. Deferring the reimagining of Robertson Road and Merivale Road should be at the top of the page.

Courageous councillors would volunteer this type of project, to show that they have what it takes to be a real leader.
