Gas Leak Closes Blair LRT Station

This is a release from the City of Ottawa:

Mayor and Members of Council,

This email is to provide an update on O-Train Line 1 service.

Earlier this morning, Blair Station had to be closed due to a gas leak caused by an incident outside of the rail system. Ottawa Fire Services and Enbridge Gas responded quickly, and we implemented R1 bus service between Blair and St-Laurent stations due to the closure. E1 supplemental bus service between Blair Station and downtown also continued to operate during the morning commute. Line 1 rail service is operating between Tunney’s Pasture and St-Laurent stations.

We are working with Ottawa Fire, Enbridge and Rideau Transit Maintenance (RTM) to determine the extent of the damage to the gas line and required repairs. R1 bus service will continue to operate until we receive confirmation it is safe to resume rail service to Blair Station.

Customers continue to be informed through social media, text messages, and station announcements. OC Transpo personnel are also at key locations across the system to assist customers on their trips. We thank customers for their patience and continue to work with our emergency service partners to confirm when full Line 1 service is safe to resume.

Additional updates will be provided as more information on the duration of repairs becomes available.

Thank you,

Renée Amilcar

More bad news from Renee Amilcar. Once again, back to Gilda Radner, “There’s Always Something”. We’re now in the 21st century. You’d think that at this point in the history of the human race we’d be able to get it right the first time, especially with the initial cost of these mammoth projects.
