Here’s Where You Can Drink In Parks
The City has listed the designated participating parks for the Alcohol in Parks pilot project, which runs from Tuesday, July 1 to Friday October 31.
This pilot project, which was approved by Council on June 11, allows designated parks to permit the personal consumption of alcohol in designated areas between 11 am and 9 pm.

The current designated parks include:
Minto Park, 102 Lewis Streetd
McNabb Park, 180 Percy Street
Queenswood Ridge Park, 346 Kennedy Lane East
Lansdowne Park – Great Lawn, 1525 Princess Patricia Way
Riverain Park, 400 North River Road
Strathcona Park, 25 Range Road
Brewer Park, 100 Brewer Way
Signage at these parks will indicate that personal consumption is permitted. The updated list of participating parks and designated areas are also available on ottawa.ca/alcoholinparks.
The designated parks will include sections that are off-limits for alcohol use. The off-limit areas include at least five-metre distances from:
Playgrounds
Wading pools and splash pads
Beaches
Rinks
Playing fields and ball diamonds
Basketball, tennis and pickleball courts
Skateboard parks
Parking lots
Please take empty alcoholic beverage containers home with you. Remember, alcohol bottles and cans can be returned for deposit refunds at any Beer Store retailer.
Park-goers are also advised to drink responsibly and be aware that personal conduct is subject to municipal by-laws, provincial laws, and Canada’s Criminal Code – including the legal drinking age of 19 years and laws around public intoxication.

I don’t see Champlain Park on the list. Did Councillor Leiper miss the deadline for submitting his list?
After the Panda Game ruckus that erupted a few years ago I’m surprised to see Brewer Park on the list. Hopefully OPS will be on alert if calls from any of the parks listed above are made by concerned citizens.
