Mike Patton is the former communications director for Mayor Larry O’Brien and the president of the Ottawa West-Nepean PC Association.

A targeted approach would be beneficial. A one size fits all approach will not resolve homelessness. People are homeless for a variety of reasons. Lumping homeless teenagers together with homeless seniors, drug addicts, alcoholics, pregnant young ladies, and those who can’t afford housing because they can’t find employment all together is a feel good approach that won’t resolve anything. This issue should be treated as a city project led by an experienced project manager, not a charitable feel-good effort by people who know the right way to phrase issues.
