How The City Responds To Media Questions
Below are a few questions I posed to City of Ottawa media relations on Friday followed by the response:
—
What is the root cause of the axle and bearing problems on LRT?
How many axles have been replaced due to this problem? At last count it was 750. How much does this cost and who is paying for it?
I need this by noon.
cheers and thx

Hi Ken,
As discussed at the June Transit Committee meeting, a technical briefing will be held in the near future to provide an update on the status of the containment and mitigation measures currently in place on O-Train Line 1 and the next steps on the path to full system performance.
An update on the axle bearing issue was shared during the May 2024 Joint Transit Commission and Light Rail Sub-Committee, which may be useful to review in advance of the upcoming technical briefing.
Any related costs associated to the sustainable solution are covered by Rideau Transit Group.

So … nothing.
At least you get a quick inappropriate response!
I have 4 “lost” information requests and after 30 days and my several complaints I then get a similar inappropriate response. (actually- most are inappropriate, some are actually good but too late).
